The group spread out -- at one point I stopped as on of the French-speaking members' chains had an issue. Realizing she had help and that until I take my bike mechanic 101 course, I had nothing to add, I rode on. However, by now I could just make out the colorful T-shirts of two members of the group way down the road. It was good riding alone on the country roads, and it took all my concentration to not slide on the jagged or smooth rocks covering the bumpy roads. At one point, the riders in advance disappeared and the ones behind were no doubt still working on the 'lame' bike. Hmm Luckily, one bicyclist took note that I was alone and new and he, Doug, waited at a cross road where I would most likely have gone off the track and ended up who knows where. He accompanied me the rest of the way to Barra. We chatted all the way. Yup! a super group.
I was exhausted when I returned and stumbled so much over back fence and my own backdoor lock that Carlos, the bungalow repair anything (a genius) looked up in concern. Estoy cansada! I told him and he smiled.
The rest of this day, except for an evening moment on the beach watching and drawing energy from the crashing waves, I stayed home and alternately slept, read and chatted with neighbors. And spoke with mom using the 10$ a day pass I bought with Telus. If all works as it was advertised, it is a good deal.
Tomorrow is Wednesday. Next Wednesday, I return to Edmonton.
